DVA/Medicare Claiming PRODA Update of TLS for Dental4Windows

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol designed to provide security over a computer network and the internet.
Services Australia’s systems (DVA/Medicare Claiming) use TLS to secure online transactions between healthcare organisations and professionals, and Services Australia.
The Australian Signals Directorate provided advice outlining the TLS standards Services Australia must be compliant with and advised to cease using TLS version 1.0 and 1.1.

Important Information

Warning
The Services Australia systems will be upgraded to TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 on Tuesday 3 February 2026 at 8PM (AEDT) 
  1. This affects those clinics that use D4W in Australia and use D4W for DVA interacting with PRODA.
  2. Sites using our current release who attempt to interact with PRODA after this time will encounter an error. 
  3. The cut over dates will be a hard cut over. 
  4. Not taking action will reduce system availability.

Action Required Summary

Before the 3rd of February 2026 you will need to update (replace) some DLL files that D4W uses to communicate with Services Australia.
We have prepared new DLLs, and you can use them to replace the current ones without requiring any D4W build updates
After replacing these files: 
  • On PCs that have the DLLs registered, nothing further will be required.
  • On those PCs where the files have not previously been registered, the usual DVA registration will need to be done.

Download & Install DLL File Instructions

  1. Close Dental4Windows before commencing (it will fail if Dental4Window is running)
  2. Download the new the DLLs files using D4w_Medicare_2026.exe
    Info https://download.centaursoftware.com/medicare-tls-update/latest/D4w_Medicare_2026.exe
     If it doesn't open within a couple of minutes, please navigate to your downloads directory and double-click the file named D4w_Medicare_2026.exe. 
    1. On some computers, you may receive the following screen.
      1. Click More info
      2. Click Run anyway
  3. The installer will open, and the following Setup Status Wizard will appear
    1. Allow the progress bar to complete
    2. When complete the following message will appear. Click OK
    3. Click Finish
  4. Repeat all steps on every PC where DVA claiming takes place
