Computerised Prescriptions (AUS) in Dental4Web
Computerised Prescriptions can be generated directly from D4Web for AUS users, using the government supplied pre-printed prescription stationery.
One side of the page is the Pharmacist/Patient copy and the other is Medicare and/or DVA copy.
Before using the Computerised Prescriptions feature :
- The dentists must order prescription papers from AUS Govt Human Services – Prescriptions department.
Order your PBS and RPBS computer generated prescription form:
- And Setup Prescription Medications in D4Web must be completed.
Setup Medicare Computerised Prescription
Enter Prescriber Number
Each Provider must have their Prescriber Number entered in Providers tab to use the feature.
Click the navigation menu > Management > Provider page
Select the relevant Provider from the Provider drop list
Enter the number in the Prescriber No field

Surgery Details
The following details automatically input on the prescription and are therefore a requirement.
- Click the navigation menu > Location Setup > Location page
- Ensure the Address and Phone 1 are entered to use this feature

Medication List
A list of commonly prescribed medications should be entered to save time when creating for a patient.
- Click the navigation menu > Location Setup > Fast Notes page
- Notes Group: Medication List
- Provider: Select either For All Providers or an individual in the list
Click ADD and enter the medication details

Setup Security
Mandatory security has been added by default. We recommend only Providers have access to use Computerised Prescriptions.
- Click the navigation menu > Location Setup > Security page
- In the Users sub-tab select the Provider
- Click Patients under Modes/Actions
- Tick Manage Prescriptions

Setup Patient File
In addition to the patient's Title, First Name, Surname, and Address, the Medicare ID number must be entered onto the patient's file, so it will be automatically entered when creating a computerised prescription.
- Click the navigation menu > Patients > Patients page > Insurance / Various tab
Enter the Medicare ID number

Using Computerised Prescriptions
Create and Print a Prescription for a Patient
Once you have ordered and received the prescription paper and the prescription feature is setup, you are able to commence using Computerised Prescriptions.
- Click the navigation menu > Patients > Patients page
- View toolbar > Create Prescription
- Enter Username and Password
- Within the Prescription window:
- Click APPLY MEDICATION

Tick the medications to include (maximum of two per prescription sheet)
Click OK
Back in the Prescription window
The selected medication is now visible
Tick Show Date of Birth
box if required
Ensure the prescription paper is loaded & Click PRINT
View Previous Prescriptions for a Patient
The prescription can be viewed after it has been created and printed.
A prescription cannot be deleted after it has been printed.
A prescription cannot be reprinted. If a second course of medication is required, create a second, identical prescription.
Prescriptions are not merged when merging a patient’s file.
The Create Prescription / View Prescription options in the View toolbar can be accessed from all pages within Patient, such as Treatment, Receipts and Documents
- Click the navigation menu > Patients > Patient page
- View toolbar > View Prescriptions
- Type notes/comments in the Comments field
- Click PRINT/PREVIEW for a list of prescriptions for the selected patient
