General Settings for Group "Communication Settings" in Dental4Windows

Settings
Activate eChat
eChat is an electronic messaging service allowing users to send messages to one another either individually or in groups to minimise the need for verbal communication in front of the patients.
- Select Yes against Use eChat
Auto-Logon to eChat
Follow these steps to log in to eChat automatically when starting the software; the user does not need to remember to log on to eChat after starting the software. It will require the user’s login details at the time of starting the software.
Select Yes against eChat: Auto Logon (Common Access)- Go to Location Setup > Security tab
- Click the Security Status icon
- Place a tick against Start/Access to D4W
- Click OK
- Ensure all current employees have access to do this,
- Go to the Users sub-tab
- Highlight the employee name
- Place a tick against this setting in Modes/Actions
Pre-requisites of Setting up E-mail in D4W
D4W gives users the ability to send emails from the software to patients, however, there are some pre-requisites required before it can be setup.
- Have an internet connection.
- Know your SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) address.
- Know your SMTP Port.
- Know whether this SMTP requires SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption.
- Have a valid email address for this SMTP.
- Know the password for this email address

- Location Setup > General tab
- Group: Communication settings
- Refer to items 2 - 6 above for what needs to be set
Setup to E-mail from a Patient File
The ability to e-mail direct from a patients' file exists, in all areas of Patients Records where printing is available.
- Use E-mail for Single Messages = Yes
- E-mail sending service for Single Message = Select appropriate
- Internal D4W Mail Service: This selection allows user to insert a message before sending e-mail. It does not have an Outbox, so sent e-mails cannot be tracked.
- Add E-mail Service (with support SSL): This selection requires setup by Centaur support or your IT technician, with specific email details.
- Windows E-mail client (MAPI): This selection is used if user prefers the e-mail to go to the Outlook outbox before sending. It does not allow for a message to be written beforehand, but once sent will be shown in Outlook’s Sent box. This selection requires the following additional setup, also in General Settings > Group: Communication Settings
- Enter E-mail account name on computer (MAPI)
