Setup operations to chart items, add custom charting conditions, setup items groups /quick lists and mark a charting condition obsolete.

Setup Operations to Chart Items

InfoAll chartable items must have an operation set to allow its use in the Charting tabs. If an item is not yet setup for Charting, click here to Setup Item to be Charted

  1. Go to Location Setup > Operations tab
  2. To add to an existing Category (e.g. Restorative), select it and click Group
    1. Group: Enter the group name, e.g. Temporary Fillings 
    2. Selection Style: Popup Menu

  3. Click Operation
    1. Name: Enter the name of the Operation, e.g. Temp Fillings
    2. Code: Enter a code, e.g. Temp
    3. Toolbar Icon: Select if an icon is needed, otherwise it will be selected from a menu in Charting
    4. Type
      1. Single Item from List: Select if only one item is to be used at a time
      2. Composition of Items: Select if a group of items it to be used at once

  4. List of Items
    1. Click Add New
      1. Select the relevant item(s)
      2. Click OK  

  5. Application
    1. To each selected tooth separately: Select if the item should be applied once for each tooth/surface it is entered on, e.g. Fillings
    2. To selected teeth as a whole: Select if the item should be applied once for all teeth/surfaces selected, e.g. Dentures 

Add Custom Charting Conditions

Conditions are an image applied to selected surfaces of a tooth which are unrelated to a procedure. For example, abrasion, wear facet, rotated.

Activate 3D Charting

Custom conditions are visible in both 2D and 3D Charting, however can only be setup with 3D Charting activated. 

Add New Condition Group

Dental4Windows already has two groups for Conditions: Condition and Movement. To add another, e.g. Custom Conditions, follow the below steps. Otherwise, highlight the existing group and move to the Add New Condition to a Group steps below.

  1. Go to Location Setup > Operations tab
  2. View: Conditions
  3. Click Group
    1. Show these tabs: Tick the tabs to display this group
    2. Group: Enter the name of the group e.g. Custom Conditions

    3. Grouping Icons: 
      1. No = This means that every condition with a toolbar Icon setup will be listed as an icon on the charting toolbar as per the example below
      2. Rows = This means that every condition with a toolbar Icon setup will be grouped by the number per row as per the example below
         

Add New Condition to a Group

Conditions can be added to existing groups; Condition and Movement or to a new group setup by the user (as above).

  1. Select the group to add the condition to e.g. Custom Conditions
  2. Click Condition
    1. Name: Enter the name of the new condition
    2. ToolBar Icon: Select if the condition should appear as a toolbar icon and in the menu
    3. 2D Charting, Picture: Select the image to show on the surface when selected in charting
    4. 3D Charting, Charting Type: 
      1. Whole Tooth = No image will show, but the Hint will show

      2. Symbol on Cell = 
        A symbol - alphabetical or numerical - will appear on the surface 
      3. Symbol with Background Cell = A symbol - alphabetical or numerical - will appear on the surface with a background to the symbol 
      4. Picture on Cell = Select a Picture to show on the surface 
      5. Hint = Enter the Hint which will be shown onscreen in 3D Charting when the condition is not visible due to rotation. 
        Tick if the Hint should be shown in 3D Charting all the time, or only when surface is not visible.
To Mark a Charting Condition Obsolete see section below. Conditions cannot be deleted once used on a patient. 

Setup Item Groups / Quick Lists

Items of treatment that are not chartable can be added as an Operation to the Charting, Perio, Treatment Plan and Treatment tabs. They are then selected as a group rather than individual items, making it a faster way to enter treatment.

For example: An exam, scale and clean, fluoride & x-rays as a group (011, 114, 121, 022, 037)

  1. Go to Location Setup > Operations
  2. Click Add Category
    1. Category: Enter the name of the category, e.g. Examination
    2. Charting / Treat Plan / Perio / Treat: Tick tabs to show this category

  3. Click Add Group
    1. Group: Enter the name of the group, e.g. Exam

  4. Click Add Operation
    1. Operation: Enter the name of the operation, e.g. Initial Examination - Adult
    2. Code: Type in a code for this operation
    3. ToolBar Icon: Select to show an icon in selected tabs for this group
    4. Type: Select the method of item entry in selected tabs
      1. Composition: All included items will auto-input to patients file when prompted
      2. Single Item: User selects one item from a list to enter in the patients file 

  5. Click Add New    

    1. Select items to include in the group
    2. Click OK   
       
    3. Times: Increase the number if selected item should be entered multiple times. To add the same item multiple times rather than increase the Times/Quantity, click Add New and select the same item again.

Mark a Charting Condition Obsolete

To remove an unwanted Condition from the lists in Charting. 

  1. Go to Location Setup > Operations tab
  2. View: Conditions
  3. Select the Group the Condition is saved within, e.g., Movement
  4. Highlight the Condition e.g. Sub Erupted
  5. Tick Obsolete
    1. Enter the date the Condition will be made obsolete as of
    2. Click OK

Follow the same steps to reverse the action of making a Condition obsolete.
