Using Letters in Dental4Windows
Listed below is how to Create a letter for a patient, eSign a letter and view eSigned letters using an eSignature device.
Create Letter for a Patient
Letter templates are available from all patient files.
- Go to Patient Records > Letters tab
- Click Find icon / Press Crtl+F on the keyboard to find the correct patient
- Highlight the Category (left of screen) the template to be used is saved within
- Double click on the Template (right of screen) to use for this patient
- Make changes / additions to the letter per the requirements for this patient
- Go to File menu > Save / Print / Send
- File menu > Exit
Saved letters can be found under View Letters: All

Electronically sign a Letter - eSignature Device
The following instructions are on how to electronically sign a Letter once the eSignature device has been setup.
- Go to Patient records > Letters tab
- Create a letter for the patient
- Go to Insert/InsertD4W menu
- Select eSignature
- Select one of the following: By patient, By Staff, By Patient and Staff
- Sign, then click OK, Clear or Cancel on the eSignature device
- OK: signature is saved and a PDF is created within the Letter Manager tab beneath the user specific document for that patient
- Clear: the signature is cleared from the Signature Capture window
- Cancel: message appears notifying that the Signature Capture was cancelled

View Electronically Signed Letters - eSignature Device
Electronically signed Letters can be viewed by following these steps.
- Go to Patient Records > Letters tab
- Select All from the View Letters
- Double-click the PDF file to view the signed document
