MediaSuite: Technical Guides
Listed below are technical instructions for MediaSuite.
A MediaSuite client install allows the user to access the application by connecting to the database located on the Server computer. To install a Mediasuite client, follow the steps below.
The below steps are only possible if MediaSuite has previously been upgraded. If no upgrades have been run in the past, please contact Centaur Support.- Open File Explorer
- Enter in the address section: \\%servername%\CSAdmin\CMS_Storage\CIK (install files)
- Run the Autorun.exe

- Select Install MediaSuite

- Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard: Click Next

- License Agreement windows: Click I accept to the terms of this license agreement
- Click Next

- Installation Type window: Select the Client User installation type
- Click next

- Ready to Install the Program window: Click install

- Installation Completed Window: Click Finish

To open MediaSuite this is done from within Dental4Windows via the x-ray link icon in Charting, Treatment Plan or Treatment. If the link has not been setup please contact Centaur Support.

The MediaSuite database runs on the Server computer through a service that is either:
Dedicated Server: Scheduled to start and shutdown automatically each day
Non-Dedicated Server: Starts/Ends upon manual opening and closing the D4W application on the Server
Below are other ways the database can be started and stopped manually.
BE AWARE stopping the database will result in all client computers with CMS running losing connection to the database and the application will close itself.Dedicated Server
- With a Dedicated Server install a lightning bolt icon should be on the desktop that allows the start or shutdown the database


- Double click on this icon and, depending on what build of CMS, either a
- Grey window with options to Start or Stop

Black window instructing to enter 1 to Start, or 2 to Stop

- Wait a few moments for a message confirming the database has successfully started or stopped.
Non-dedicated server
- As mentioned in the introduction, a non-dedicated MediaSuite database is always started by launching Dental4Windows/PracticeStudio

- To shut it down, simply close the Dental4Windows/PracticeStudio application. It may take a few minutes for the database to shutdown.
- To shutdown the database quickly, close the Dental4Windows/PracticeStudio application and right click on the CMSImg lightning bolt icon in the task box found in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
- Click Shut down
