Click the navigation menu > Management > Sterilisation page

Setup Sterilisation Module & its Features

Once the Sterilisation module has been activated by Centaur, it is recommended the following preferences and setup is completed to ensure the onboarding of the module is effective. 

Add an Autoclave to Sterilisation

To keep accurate records for sterilising, add all your autoclaves to the database. 
  1. Autoclave toolbar > New
  2. Autoclave Details: 
    1. Location: Select the location, if applicable
    2. Name: Enter the name of the Autoclave
    3. Make: Enter the make details
    4. Model: Enter the model details
    5. Serial: Enter the serial details
    6. Active: This tick can be removed later if the Autoclave becomes inactive
    7. Notes: Add special notes about the autoclave
    8. Click OK

Add Sterilisation Pack Contents Templates

The contents of sterilised packs are entered into D4Web in the System Tables.
This allows the user to identify the instruments that have been are scanned into an autoclave cycle.

Set an Item Number to Record Sterilisation Packs on a Patient

When Sterilisation is activated, a new item number, STERI, is added to D4Web. The Clinical Notes window will be directed to the Sterilisation section automatically, saving the user time in having hide other sections. Only one item can be marked as such, however other items can still record sterilisation entries. 
  1. Click the navigation menu > Location Setup > Items page
  2. Highlight the STERI item
  3. Financial Details sub-tab
  4. Tick Sterilisation box

Set Barcode Preferences

The following settings are related to sterilisation tracking barcode scanners. 

Setup Labels to Include Cycle and Expiry Date

Dental4Web can generate labels that are cost effective.
Even though Dental4Web can work with autoclaves that generate their own labels (e.g. Lisa), they are not recommend as they do not generate unique labels for each pack. 
We recommended label sheets with 24 labels per sheet. This allows sterilisation barcodes, autoclave information, cycle dates and expiry date to fit on each label
Sterilisation labels can be setup to include:
  1. Autoclave details
  2. Date of cycle
  3. Expiry date of processed instrument pack. 
Setup & activate the feature
  1. Open the navigation menu > Location Setup > General page > Group: Other
    1. Sterilisation module allow non-unique barcodes input = No
      Warning
      The feature will NOT work if above is set to "Yes"
    1. Sterilisation: Include Autoclave, Cycle & Expiry Information = Yes
    2. Sterilisation: Number of Months after Cycle Date is the Expiry Date =  # (default 3)

Generate and Print The Sterilisation Labels

  1. Click the navigation menu > Management > Sterilisation page
  2. Autoclave toolbar > Generate & Print Labels
    1. Label Type: Select the relevant labels
    2. Initial: This is the barcode number to start with (e.g. if last labels printed finished with barcode 1399, this one commences with 1400)
    3. Amount: Enter the number of labels to generate (e.g. 24)
    4. Click GENERATE

  3. Bar Codes
    1. Address Position: Change the position of the barcode; only do this if test show it is needed
    2. Font:  Change the size of the font if needed
    3. Click PRINT: Ensure the correct printer is selected

Manage Autoclaves

Editing Autoclave details is done in the navigation menu > Management > Sterilisation page

Edit an Autoclave's Details

Existing autoclaves information can be update following the below steps. 
  1. Select the autoclave to be edited from the Autoclave drop list
  2. Autoclave toolbar > Edit
    1. Make changes to the details
    2. Click OK

Make an Autoclave Inactive

  1. Select the autoclave to be edited from the Autoclave drop list
  2. Autoclave toolbar > Edit
    1. Remove the Tick from the Active box
    2. Click OK

Delete An Unused Autoclave

An autoclave can only be deleted if no records have been entered against it, otherwise it will need to be made inactive (see above). 
  1. Select the autoclave to make inactive from the Autoclave drop list
  2. Autoclave toolbar > Delete
    1. Click YES
       to delete
