Setup Tyro Terminal

Tyro is an electronic insurance claim system that allows real-time claims and payments to be processed on the spot using a Tyro EFTPOS terminal. Tyro is available to a wide range of healthcare service providers including General Dentists, Endodontists, Paediatric Dentists, Periodontists, and Prosthodontists.

Tyro currently handles the following payments and claims: 

  • Health Fund Insurance Claims and Quotations
  • EFTPOS Transactions
  • Medicare

Prerequisites

  1. The PC Linked with the terminal must have:
    1. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
    2. Full access for folder/file permissions to D4W folder on the system drive
    3. An Internet Connection
  2. Centaur will install the Tyro software to successfully use the Tyro Terminal

Setup

  1. Add Tyro Terminal to Dental4Windows/PracticeStudio
    1. Go to Location Setup > System Tables tab
    2. System Tables: Tyro Terminal Configuration
      1. Click Add
      2. Enter Terminal ID     
                                                                                  
  2. Pair/Link Terminal with PC
    1. Go to the PC that will send transactions, open Dental4Windows/PracticeStudio
    2. Go to menu > Tyro Terminal Selection       
                                                            
      1. Tick the terminal to use on this computer
      2. Click OK      

TYRO: Process an Insurance Claim

InfoPrior to attempting a claim, ensure to Setup Patient File for Insurance Claim. The below instructions include how to do a Tyro insurance quote.

  1. Go to Patient Records > Treatment tab
  2. Enter items (or they may already be entered)
  3. Itemised Invoices menu > New Invoice Only
    1. Click HealthPoint

      1. Select the item(s) to include in the claim
      2. Click OK

        1. Follow the prompts onscreen, e.g. Swipe health fund card

        2. Once the claim has been processed, the option to Accept or Reject is available

          1. Accept: The claim will be finalised and a receipt will be printed for the patient to sign
          2. Reject: This is considered a quotation and the claim will not be finalised

    2. In the Create Itemised Invoices window, select from the following
      1. Enter a Discount
      2. Receive Payment
      3. Create without applying a payment
      4. Preview to view and E-mail
      5. Print

TYRO: Process an EFTPOS ePayment

Payments can be entered against treatment, after a claim and against and outstanding balance. 

  1. From any Receipt window...

  2. Amount: Enter the amount to charge
  3. Payment Type: Select EFTPOS ePayment
  4. EFTPOS Payment: Click EFTPOS payment

    1. Swipe / Insert the patients card
    2. If the payment was successful, click OK on the message
    3. If the payment was unsuccessful, click OK and select another Payment Type
  5. Click Create / Preview / Print to finalise the payment 

TYRO: Reverse an EFTPOS ePayment

  1. Go to Patient Records > Receipts tab
  2. Select the payment to reverse
  3. Receipts menu> Reverse Receipt
    1. Select Via Tyro (card required)
    2. Click Reverse

      1. Follow the prompts onscreen - e.g. Enter refund password on terminal


Tyro Rebate Estimate

Some Health Funds allow their clients to do a Tyro Rebate Estimate on a proposed Treatment Plan. 

Prior to attempting a rebate estimate claim, ensure the patients' file is setup for insurance claims. 

  1. Go to Patient Records > Treatment Plan tab
  2. Treatment Plan menu > Tyro Rebate Estimate
    1. Deselect items to not include in the rebate estimate

    2. Click HealthPoint and follow the onscreen prompts
