Listed below is how to Import images and 3D volumes, capture an images and export and image.

Import 3D Volumes

DICOM 3D volumes can now be imported and viewed in Mediasuite Classic.  Volumes can only be viewed, any changes made during a session will not be saved.
  1. Make sure correct patient file is open
  2. Click Media Menu > Import > 3D

  3. Select the 3D volume to be imported
    1. Click Select Folder

  4. If there is a mismatch between the patient name in Mediasuite and the 3D volume, a warning message will come up giving you the option.
    1. Click Yes to proceed 
    2. Click No to cancel the Import

    3. If Yes is selected or if the patient names match the 3D volume that's imported, the 3D Volume will now be visible in the patients file can be opened in MediaSuite to view

CMScan Capture an image

The Capture option allows connection to different devices for tooth shooting to the Mediasuite.

Once devices are connected to the system, they will be displayed In the MediaSuite Scanner window.

  1. Click Capture using Client Scanner icon
    1. The 'Client Capture' will start the 'MediaSuite Scanner' window
    2. Select your device name. Example: IP Image Acquisition

  2. A counter box may appear while the device interface window opens. This screen is normal. If the counter continues to count upwards for longer than 20 seconds, the interface window may be automatically minimised on the taskbar.

  3. The device interface window will appear onscreen. Follow steps according to the device instruction. 
    Example: CS7600 device

  4. When finished the 'Client Capture' window will commence transferring. You may see this window again as the image/s are transferred, please wait as it will close automatically.

  5. The image/s will be presented in Mediasuite for processing

Capture Carestream Intraoral

Images can be captured using the Carestream Intraoral Sensor.
  1. Click Capture from CSH2 RVG

  2. Click Capture

  3. Capture the image with the Intraoral Sensor

  4. Click Exit to close the capture interface

  5. Select the teeth required and click Process

Edit > Select All

This option enables the user to perform whatever operation selected with all pictures contained currently in the system for this patient being viewed.

  1. Edit menu > Select All

  2. Icons of all pictures in the system will be selected

  3.  Complete the required operation. e.g.: print

Import Videos

Videos can be imported into Mediasuite. This is particularly useful if images are emailed to the practice, for example.

AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV and MP4 file types are supported.

  1. Go to Media menu > Import > 2D

  2. Select Video Files > Select the file/files to import > Click Open

  3. If desired, select a Media Category or Add a New Media Category

  4. Select the required tooth and click Process to save the video

E-mail Images

Images can be e-mailed directly from Mediasuite.
  1. Open an image
  2. Go to Media menu > Email

  3. Select the picture size and click OK       
                                                                                                   
  4. The installed e-mail client (e.g. Outlook) will launch and the image will be e-mailed as an attachment

Export Images

2D images and 3D volumes can be exported from MediaSuite. This allows an image to be saved in a format that can be viewed in other programs.

JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG, DICOM and DICOMDIR file types are supported.

It is recommended an easily accessible folder be created to export images into, for example Images.

This makes exported images easier to find.

  1. Double click on the required object in the left part of the screen (The object will be present in the screen)
  2. Go to Media menu > Export

  3. Select the path to save the file 

  4. Tick box to Export original object(s)
  5. Click OK

NotesSharing images created within MediaSuite with other systems (for example, sending pictures to another clinic) is done through this option.

Import 2D Images

Images can be imported into Mediasuite. This is particularly useful if images are emailed to the practice, for example.

TIFF, JPEG, PNG, GIF, DCM and DIC file types are supported.

  1. Media menu > Import > 2D

  2. Select the file/files to import > Click Open

  3. The date and time the image was taken can be modified. Remove the tick in the Use last modified date checkbox.

  4. The Media Category can be selected from the drop down list   
                 
  5. Select the required tooth and click Process to save the image

Delete Images

Once an image has been acquired or imported into Mediasuite it can be deleted if no longer required.

  1. Double click on the image (The object will be present in the screen)
  2. Go to Edit menu > Delete

  3. Click Yes to delete the image

Delete by right clicking the image

  1. Right click the image and select Delete 
                                                                                
  2. Click Yes to delete the image

InfoIf an image has been deleted in error it can be restored.

Undo/Redo Action

Move forward-backward across a series of operations with a picture.
  1. Go to Edit menu > Undo/Redo or click on Undo/Redo icon

  2. In the Undo / Redo window:
    1. Select an option from the ‘Undo/Redo items’ list
    2. User can move from the very last (current) version of the picture towards the original version (Initial state) and backward
    3. Proposed - change from Initial state
    4. Current - the current version of the picture is shown (the last one)
    5. Click OK

Redo Last Action

Repeat the last operation completed with the picture.
  1. Go to Edit menu > Redo Last Action

  2. The Redo Last Action option can be used if:
    1. The last operation was cancelled by mistake
    2. If the user (through the Undo Last Action option) returned to the previous version of the picture on purpose, and now wants to be back to the current version of this picture

Undo Last Action

Cancel (undo) the last operation completed with an image.

This option applies when the last operation with picture was a mistake, as well as when the user wants to restore the original version of a picture.

  1. Go to Edit menu > Undo Last Action

  2. After selecting Undo Last Action multiple times, the user can undo entire series operations with a picture and return to the original version of the picture, which existed before these operations

Duplicate Image

A selected picture can be duplicated on the screen.
  1. Double click on the image (The object will be present in the screen)
  2. Go to Media menu > Duplicate

  3. A duplicate image now appears

Copy & Paste an Image

Images can be exported from the system to the clipboard.
  1. To copy to the Windows Clipboard
    1. Highlight the required icon/picture/image/x-ray in the left part of the screen
    2. Go to Media menu > Copy

      The image has now been copied to the Windows Clipboard and can be pasted into other programs (e.g. Paint, Word, etc.)
  2. To paste from the Windows Clipboard
    1. The image needs to be copied from another program (e.g. Paint, Word, etc.)
    2. Go to Media menu > Paste

    3. Click Process to save the image

    4. The image will now appear on the left hand side of the screen

Copy Images to Dental4Windows Document Manager

Images can be copied into D4W Document Manager of the patient.
  1. Go to Media > Copy to D4W Document Manager or Right click on an image thumbnail > Copy to D4W Document Manager
  2. The path is extracted from D4W. Click OK to confirm

  3. The image now appears in the patient's Document Manager

Images added into wrong patient file

When using MediaSuite via Dental4Windows the images can be moved/copied to another patient (if added into the wrong patient file) via the Patients tab in Dental4Windows.

AlertThis procedure copies/moves ALL the images and can NOT be reversed.
  1. In D4W, while still in the incorrect patient file
    1. Go to > Patient Tab > Patient menu > Media Suite Objects copy….

  2. In the Find a patient window:
    1. Type in the correct patient name or card number
    2. Click Find

    3. Highlight the correct name from the list and click OK

  3. The source patient/target patient window appears: 
    1. Source patient = the incorrect patient
    2. Target patient = the correct patient
    3. Objects to copy = number of images that will be moved/copied. (ALL images)
  4. Tick Box if you wish to Move the objects (All CMS objects of the Source patient will be deleted) from Source to target patient
    1. Images will be deleted from the source patient
    2. Click OK to proceed

  5. The process is complete when the following message appears

    1. Click OK
